A name is just the beginning

Bespoke naming ceremonies, written entirely around your family — however it came to be, and whatever shape it takes.

A naming ceremony isn't really about the name. It's about everyone who loves this child standing in one room and saying, out loud, together: we see you. We're here for all of it.

Every family arrives at this moment differently. Some of you are naming a child who came into your life right on time. Some of you are naming a child who arrived after years of waiting that nobody could have put a date on. And some of you are naming a child who's already old enough to choose their own outfit for the day and tell you exactly what they think of the whole affair.

Whatever brought you here — this is a moment worth marking properly.

Some of the families I work with are naming their first child. Some are naming a second or third, and want each child to have their own distinct moment within a shared day. Some are blended families finding new words for new relationships. Some are single parents who chose this path deliberately and built a family entirely on their own terms. Some are naming a child who already has opinions, a personality, and a clear idea of what they want their day to look like.

There's no single shape a family takes, and no single shape a naming ceremony should take either. I'd love to hear your story — whatever it looks like.

The Shared Wish

One of my favourite moments to build into a naming ceremony is built around light — and warmth.

It starts with you — a single candle, lit by the parent or parents, representing the love that brought your child into your lives, however that happened. Then it passes to the guide parents or godparents, each lighting their own candle directly from that same flame — their promise to be a steady light when your child needs one, and a warmth they can always come home to. And then, if you'd like, it widens further still — every guest lighting their candle from the flame beside them, until the whole room is glowing, every flame traceable back to that very first light.

The promise underneath it is simple: you will never be left in the dark, and you will never be left cold. Every flame in this room began with you.

A Light that grows

For some families, this day carries something quite particular — a wish held for a long time, by the parent or parents, and by everyone who loved them and hoped alongside them, year after year, for exactly this outcome.

If that's true for you, I'd love to build it into the ceremony itself. Because when a whole room of people has been quietly wishing the same wish for years, and they finally get to stand together and watch it come true — that's not just a celebration. It's a wish, witnessed and answered, by everyone who held it.

every family, every path

what i offer

Bespoke naming ceremonies written entirely from scratch around your family and your child.

Guide parents & godparents — a meaningful moment where the chosen adults in your child's life make their promises, in words written specifically for them.

Sibling & multiple naming ceremonies — each child given their own moment within a shared celebration.

Readings & symbolic moments — from the candle ceremony above to a wish tree, or something entirely your own.

We start with a conversation — about your family, your child, the people you want involved, and what this day means to you. I write your ceremony entirely from scratch, we refine it together, and I'm there to bring it to life.

How it works

A name is something your child will carry for the rest of their life. The day you give it to them properly deserves the same care.
